Trudy Slaght - Director Of Clinical Operations

Trudy Slaght is the Director of Clinical Operations at TaperClinic and is based in Alberta, Canada. She provides strategic and clinical leadership across the organization, with a focus on designing patient-centred care models that support individuals in safely reducing or discontinuing psychiatric medications. While ensuring that clinical care is thoughtful, patient-centred, and grounded in real-world experience.

Trudy oversees and leads a dedicated clinical team, ensuring high standards of care, consistency, and continuous improvement across the patient journey. In addition to her executive responsibilities, she remains actively involved in direct patient care, offering individualized, data-informed tapering guidance and facilitating support groups for those working toward a life free from medication.

Trudy’s expertise is grounded in lived experience. Her personal withdrawal journey began with the abrupt discontinuation of multiple medications, resulting in protracted symptoms and a long, difficult recovery. These early challenges shaped her approach: cautious, well-researched, and methodical. She successfully completed the tapering of her final two medications in September 2019—all while working full time and parenting three children.

Since then, Trudy has dedicated thousands of hours to supporting others on their tapering paths. She is a co-author of the chapter on online withdrawal support in Withdrawal from Prescribed Psychotropic Drugs, published by Peter Lehmann Publishing. Known for her empathy, clarity, and attention to detail, she brings both technical precision and deep compassion to her work.

Trudy believes that with the right information and support, individuals can reduce suffering and achieve medication-free goals. Her planning is rooted in careful calculation and deep respect for each person’s unique tapering experience.

In addition to her work at TaperClinic, Trudy has recently completed a Bachelor of Management degree. She enjoys gardening, backpacking in the Rocky Mountains, and studying French as a second language.
