Taper with medical providers who have advanced psychiatric training and extensive experience in medication withdrawal. We offer a safe, structured, and personalized plan, handling every dose calculation and guiding you through each step. With our support, you’ll never have to wonder if you’re moving too fast or too slow—expert advice is always close at hand.
Collaborate with a Tapering Coach who has personally overcome withdrawal and guided hundreds of others. They will handle every tapering calculation, train you in the tapering process, and advise you on dose adjustments. You’ll never have to wonder if you’re moving too quickly or slowly—help is always at hand.
For patients whose psychiatric symptoms seem to come out of nowhere, we conduct a comprehensive medical assessment to ensure nothing is missed. We identify potential contributors such as medication side effects, nutritional deficiencies, or overlooked medical conditions like anemia, sleep apnea, or hormonal imbalances. By addressing these factors, we help create the best possible conditions for a smooth transition to a medication-free life.
Metabolic therapies can be transformative, even for individuals with complex conditions such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Many people on long-term medication have safely tapered off by using the right metabolic and dietary strategies. We customize these interventions to your specific needs, guiding you toward a healthier, more stable lifestyle that increases your chances of discontinuing medication for good.
For those experiencing extended withdrawal symptoms, we offer daily support meetings dedicated to protracted withdrawal. These sessions provide non-drug coping strategies, address life adjustments, and foster a community of understanding. You won’t have to face prolonged withdrawal alone—our aim is to keep you motivated, connected, and moving forward.
Every week, we hold skills-based classes that focus on non-drug approaches to managing psychiatric symptoms. By learning proven techniques for emotional regulation and stress management, you’ll be better prepared to navigate life without medication.
We run multiple live group sessions daily, covering topics like medical guidance, tapering strategies, protracted withdrawal support, and general emotional wellness. Whenever you need help, you can drop in to connect with our experienced team and fellow members. This consistent access ensures that expert support is always available when you need it most.
Withdrawal can be isolating, but you are never alone at TaperClinic. Our carefully curated online platform connects you with peers on the same journey, providing a place to share experiences, gain insight, and offer mutual encouragement. By forging these strong, supportive connections, you’ll find reassurance and motivation to keep moving forward.
Benzodiazepines, often referred to as benzos, are among the most challenging psychiatric medications to taper off due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms. TaperClinic specializes in helping patients taper off benzos such as:
Xanax (Alprazolam)
Klonopin (Clonazepam)
Ativan (Lorazepam)
Valium (Diazepam)
Temazepam (Restoril)
Librium (Chlordiazepoxide)
Etizolam (not FDA-approved in the U.S. but often purchased online)
Our tapering approach for benzos is personalized to your unique situation, allowing for flexibility and adjustments based on your withdrawal symptoms and progress. The goal is to minimize the risk of severe withdrawal effects like anxiety, tremors, and neurological disruptions by providing you with the right tools and support throughout your taper.
Tapering off antidepressants can be a long and delicate process, particularly for patients who have been on these medications for many years. At TaperClinic, we help patients taper off various types of antidepressants, including:
SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors):
Zoloft (Sertraline)
Lexapro (Escitalopram)
Prozac (Fluoxetine)
Celexa (Citalopram)
Paxil (Paroxetine)
Luvox (Fluvoxamine)
SNRIs (Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors):
Effexor (Venlafaxine)
Cymbalta (Duloxetine)
Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine)
TCAs (Tricyclic Antidepressants):
Amitriptyline (Elavil)
Nortriptyline (Pamelor)
Imipramine (Tofranil)
Doxepin (Sinequan)
Mirtazapine (Remeron)
Trazodone (Desyrel)
Wellbutrin (Bupropion)
At TaperClinic, we tailor the tapering process for antidepressants to minimize withdrawal symptoms, such as “brain zaps,” dizziness, and mood changes. You’ll receive consistent support through virtual consultations and access to an exclusive online community where you can share experiences with others who are also tapering off psychiatric medications.
Tapering off mood stabilizers and antipsychotics can be particularly challenging, especially for patients managing bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or related conditions. At TaperClinic, we provide careful tapering support for the following medications:

Depakote (Divalproex Sodium)
Lamictal (Lamotrigine)
Topamax (Topiramate)
Tegretol (Carbamazepine)
Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine)
Antipsychotics:
Risperdal (Risperidone)

Seroquel (Quetiapine)
Haldol (Haloperidol)
Abilify (Aripiprazole)
Geodon (Ziprasidone)
Latuda (Lurasidone)

Saphris (Asenapine)
Vraylar (Cariprazine)
We also support patients who are tapering off long-acting injectable antipsychotics, including Invega Sustenna, Abilify Maintena, and Risperdal Consta. Our goal is to ensure that your mental health remains stable while tapering off these medications.
Stimulants, commonly prescribed for ADHD and other conditions, can also pose challenges when discontinuing use, especially after long-term treatment. TaperClinic helps patients safely taper off the following stimulants:
Adderall (Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine)
Ritalin (Methylphenidate)
Concerta (Methylphenidate ER)
Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine)
Dexedrine (Dextroamphetamine)
Focalin (Dexmethylphenidate)
Strattera (Atomoxetine) – Non-stimulant often used for ADHD
Stimulant tapering is essential to avoid symptoms such as fatigue, depression, and difficulty concentrating. Our personalized stimulant tapering plans help ensure a smooth transition, reducing the likelihood of withdrawal effects while supporting mental and physical well-being throughout the process.
In addition to traditional psychiatric medications, TaperClinic helps patients safely taper off off-label medications commonly used in psychiatric care, such as:
Gabapentin (Neurontin)
Lyrica (Pregabalin)
Hydroxyzine (Vistaril, Atarax)
Propranolol (Inderal)
Clonidine (Catapres)

Our 12-month initial program is priced similarly to a 2-month residential detox retreat, except we provide yearlong care. Fees typically range from $22,000 to $36,000 USD per year, depending on complexity.
If you need more time after the 12-month period, we’ll continue working with you on a month-to-month basis. If you finish early, we prorate your contract and facilitate a smooth transition back to your primary doctor.
We are not in-network with any insurance carriers, so care is out of pocket. However, we provide superbills that you may submit to your insurer for possible partial reimbursement. Our common CPT codes are 99213, 99211, and 90792.
Withdrawal from psychiatric medications—especially for those in protracted withdrawal—can be a complex and unpredictable process, one that unfolds differently for each individual. While we bring deep expertise and a personalized approach to every case, the healing journey can take unexpected turns, and outcomes may vary. Rather than making blanket promises, we focus on honest conversations, thoughtful planning, and responsive support at every step. That said, we carefully select patients we believe we can genuinely help. During your initial exploration call, we’ll talk openly about your history, goals, and what a realistic outcome might look like.
We do not offer any one-off consultations. Instead, we devote our full attention and resources to long-term program patients who want a dedicated team by their side throughout the entire process, ensuring they achieve their desired results.
