What to Expect from TaperClinic

Medical Professionals Specialized in Drug Tapering

Our team only does one thing: help people taper off psychiatric medications safely. They’re not general psychiatrists fitting you in between other appointments. This is all they do. They’ve seen every scenario and know exactly how to handle it.

Dedicated Tapering Consultant

You’ll never have to wonder if what you’re feeling is normal or if you’re moving too fast. Your Tapering Consultant has been through withdrawal themselves and helped hundreds of others taper successfully. They’ll tell you exactly what to do at every step, watch for warning signs, and adjust your plan when your body needs it. The days of guessing are over.

Sleep Coaching

Sleep problems are why a lot of people got on medication in the first place. And insomnia during withdrawal can make everything worse. Our sleep specialists help you learn to sleep great without pills. You’ll rebuild healthy sleep patterns, even after years of relying on sedatives. Better sleep means easier tapering.

Functional Medicine Assessments

Most doctors never check if your body is actually working right. We do. We run lab tests to find problems that make tapering harder—like vitamin deficiencies, gut issues, hormone imbalances, and leaky gut. When we fix these problems, your body can handle withdrawal way better. You heal faster and get back to your life sooner.

Nutrition Support

We help you eat foods that make withdrawal easier. No crazy diets. Just simple changes based on what your body needs. Our evidence-based approach ensures your body is set up to succeed. The right foods can address the core mental health issues and reduce inflammation, which makes tapering easier.

Skills for Staying Off Meds

Getting off medication is one thing. Staying off is another. We teach you proven techniques to handle anxiety, depression, and stress without needing pills. You’ll learn how to calm your nervous system, manage difficult emotions, and deal with life’s challenges naturally. These are real skills you can use when you need them most.

Consistent Connection

You’ll have regular personal check-ins and access to group sessions every week. This creates a predictable rhythm so you feel grounded and safe with your taper. No matter what questions may arise, you’ll know exactly how to get what you need.

Online Support Community

Withdrawal can feel isolating, but not here. Our private online community connects you with others on the same path. You can learn from each other, share when you want to share, and celebrate your milestones along the way. You don’t have to do this alone.

This gives you predictable access to care and connection with others who understand what you’re going through.

You also get full access to our in-house advisory team for sleep, nutrition, and psychological support when you need it.

our main focus

We Specialize In Tapering off a wide range of Psychiatric Medications

Benzodiazepines, often referred to as benzos, are among the most challenging psychiatric medications to taper off due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms. TaperClinic specializes in helping patients taper off benzos such as:

Xanax (Alprazolam)
Klonopin (Clonazepam)
Ativan (Lorazepam)
Valium (Diazepam)
Temazepam (Restoril)
Librium (Chlordiazepoxide)
Etizolam (not FDA-approved in the U.S. but often purchased online)

Our tapering approach for benzos is personalized to your unique situation, allowing for flexibility and adjustments based on your withdrawal symptoms and progress. The goal is to minimize the risk of severe withdrawal effects like anxiety, tremors, and neurological disruptions by providing you with the right tools and support throughout your taper.

Tapering off antidepressants can be a long and delicate process, particularly for patients who have been on these medications for many years. At TaperClinic, we help patients taper off various types of antidepressants, including:

SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors):
Zoloft (Sertraline)
Lexapro (Escitalopram)
Prozac (Fluoxetine)
Celexa (Citalopram)
Paxil (Paroxetine)
Luvox (Fluvoxamine)
SNRIs (Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors):
Effexor (Venlafaxine)
Cymbalta (Duloxetine)
Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine)
TCAs (Tricyclic Antidepressants):
Amitriptyline (Elavil)
Nortriptyline (Pamelor)
Imipramine (Tofranil)
Doxepin (Sinequan)
Mirtazapine (Remeron)
Trazodone (Desyrel)
Wellbutrin (Bupropion)

At TaperClinic, we tailor the tapering process for antidepressants to minimize withdrawal symptoms, such as “brain zaps,” dizziness, and mood changes. You’ll receive consistent support through virtual consultations and access to an exclusive online community where you can share experiences with others who are also tapering off psychiatric medications.

Tapering off mood stabilizers and antipsychotics can be particularly challenging, especially for patients managing bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or related conditions. At TaperClinic, we provide careful tapering support for the following medications:

Concerta (Methylphenidate ER)
Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine)

Frequently Asked Questions

Tapering takes time. That’s why our programs support you for an entire year, not just
a few weeks. Our 12-month program costs about the same as a 2-month inpatient
detox, except you get year-long care at home. The Drug Tapering Program is $30,000
to $35,000. The Concierge Program starts at $45,000 per year

If you need more time after the 12-month period, we’ll continue working with you on a month-to-month basis. If you finish early, we prorate your contract and facilitate a smooth transition back to your primary doctor.

We are not in-network with any insurance carriers, so care is out of pocket. However, we provide superbills that you may submit to your insurer for possible partial reimbursement. Our common CPT codes are 99213, 99211, and 90792.

Withdrawal from psychiatric medications—especially for those in protracted withdrawal—can be a complex and unpredictable process, one that unfolds differently for each individual. While we bring deep expertise and a personalized approach to every case, the healing journey can take unexpected turns, and outcomes may vary. Rather than making blanket promises, we focus on honest conversations, thoughtful planning, and responsive support at every step. That said, we carefully select patients we believe we can genuinely help. During your initial exploration call, we’ll talk openly about your history, goals, and what a realistic outcome might look like.

We do not offer any one-off consultations. Instead, we devote our full attention and resources to long-term program patients who want a dedicated team by their side throughout the entire process, ensuring they achieve their desired results.
